The decorations in the Legion and the Creston Room great! The food great! Ole Friends great!

Pat, & your committee can take a bow for doing such an outstanding job of planning , organzing and delivering the event to all us Grads and friends.

On many occasions such as we just experienced, the anticipation is better than the actual event.  That definitely was not the outcome for our reunion.  After we returned to Calgary I overheard my husband, a non-Crestonite, telling someone what a wonderful weekend it was; that must be an indication of a great reunion.

It was great to reconnect with friends and to meet new acquaintances.  The organizing committee did a marvellous job of attending to the numerous details that helped make the entire program so successful.

And finally, it would not have been nearly as special without that particular band.  Thanks again for all the hours contributed by so many people.  Hope you are all resting!

Carol Barnes (Nelson) (1965)

I would like to thank Pat for having the initial idea for the reunion and thank Ron and all the committee members who helped bring the fantastic weekend to fruition.       It was wonderful to be able to re-connect with former classmates, first through the website and finally in person during the 3 day event -  great food and great nostalgic music by The Ambassadors and Friends that we didn't want to end.     Prior to the weekend, I looked forward to checking out each new addition to the "Creston in the 60's" and to the "Bits & Pieces" sections. Can't wait to see what will be added now.

Again, a big "Thank You" to everyone involved who helped make this a wonderful time to remember - a fitting addition to our school memories.

I just watched 'Terrific Tease'-fantastic is all I can say. Kudos to Karen and her grandson!  Looking forward to the full show.

By all reports the weekend  was a smashing success and am grateful for pictures and movies being posted to this site, so those of us who could not attend can press our noses to the window and get a glimpse of what went on.

THANK YOU seems so inadequate for the beautiful reunion weekend the committee gave us.  For those of us that attended we came away a far richer people.  You reminded us again of the value of friendship.  Time had no bearing and the closing of a 50 year hiatus only drew us together.

To the Ambassadors and Friends, you knocked the ball out of the park and made us feel "18" again.

Again, my sincere gratitude.  In the words of Hans Christian Anderson  "Just living is not enough.... One must have sunshine, freedom and friends."

Hi All - There has been a lot going on in the last few weeks. My spouse, Colleen Driscoll, and I, really enjoyed the reunion week-end. It was very interesting meeting old schoolmates and hearing what they have been doing and sad to see all the classmates that have passed away in the last few years. Having the 1965 Class photo taken was fun and hopefully we all can get a copy.Glad to connect to Philip A, and Sandy P. (who got me in a lot of trouble) from the big Elimentary School ( 6 grades in one room) at Sirdar; we have know each other for a long time, since 1951, wow. I forgot to mention that we had a great time riding the school bus to Creston when we started attending PCSS. Getting ahead to the reuion week-end the "meet and greet' was unforgetful, at the Royal Canadian Legion where a number of my former classmates mentioned I was the 'military guy'. I almost forgot the years I was in the Royal Canadian Enginneers Cadets and Milisha. From all the training at VTTC (Vernon Trades & Traing Camp), I belive that it was a strong infulence in working as a surveyor for 35 years with the Ministry of Transportation and Hghways in the Kootenays and finally out of Nelson. The banqet Saturday night was fun with great food, friends and the Band, the Ambassadors, were fabulous, bring back old memories. We saw 'Elton John' in Spokane (fantastic) on Sept. 17th, and his song 'Saturday night' reminded me of the good old days. A great big thanks to Pat & Ron and the orgainizing Committee for all their hard work in putting the reuion week-end together.  Now Ron T. and I are in Whistler for the UBCM (Union of BC Municipalities Convention) and will be returning home next week to begin the hard work running for re-election, Ron for Mayor in Creston and me for Councillor in Nelson. cheers

Thanks for the great weekend and for all the hard work organizing everything. We wondered if anyone had Ernie Naccarato's address? Jack had a little something from his volleyball team that he wanted to send him. Looking forward to seeing the pictures. Thanks again  Marion and Jack Elder

Check out Pat's Picks on the homepage.  These are a few that I took on my cell phone.  If anyone else has pictures from the weekend you would like us to post, please email them to me and they can be shared with everyone.  Many more pictures to come as soon as we sort out the 600 or so pictures taken by the photographer Jeff Banman throughout the week.

Linda Robinson (Tompkins) (1966)

Allan & I are still flying high from the Reunion experience.  So thankful to all the committee for the tremendous job they did.  We both wish that we had had more time to chat with everyone but the time just seemed to fly by.  TEEN TOWN was a great time and nice to just mull around and talk to everyone, but as you were talking to someone, another person walked by that you wanted to chat with, so missed a few.  At this stage of age it was perfect timing and felt really good to see people that were purked up in your mind and memory after many years.  Happy to have been raised in Creston!!!

Just as an off-side request, does anyone remember who lived in the Scandinavian house built on the cliff above the viewpoint?  Have tried to remember and can't think of a better source to possibly find the answer.

Has anyone else noticed the grads of all three years, front row,all have their hands crossed in their laps just as we were told to do all those years ago. Gave me a great big chuckle!

Mary Preston (O'Bryan) (1965)

Hi I think the house above the viewpoint was built by the Danish farmer who raised the pigs.  I could have the wrong house but I can still remember the smell when you drove past.

Jill Armitage (Hood) (1965)

I think Mary is right, the Jakobsens built on the same side of the highway as the  viewpoint. The name of the farmer escapes me but his wife died in that awful plane crash in Cranbrook back in the 70's.

Does anyone else remember calling the viewpoint the 'look out' ? In Nova Scotia they call such a spot a 'look off'.

Jessie Lewis (Clinton) (1965)

His name was Nels Knudsen was it not??

Yes, Linda apparently we learned our  lessons well.

Pat Whitford (Paterson) (1965)

Niels and Edie Knudsen (Danish) owned the pig farm you are referring to.  They lived approx 1/2 mile from the viewpoint, first on the same side as the viewpoint and then built on the upper side (now called Lakeview).  Edie was killed in the Cranbrook plane crash as well as others (at least one) from this community.   The Jacobsen family lived closer to Creston on the same side as the viewpoint.

So we have still not solved the question as to who owned and/or built the house above the cliff opposite the viewpoint.  We walked up in there a few years ago and again not too long ago and I remember driving up there with my care filled for some type of birthday party as I recall.  H E L P in remembering whose it was.  Have asked a few people and they do not remember either.  It is a beautifully designed Scandinavian styled house with garden surrounding.  The power line up to it is visible from the cliff side across from the viewpoint.  Just curious and hopefully someone in 3 year grad group will remember.  Nice to be able to take advantage of a 50-year memory website of real brain power.  HAPPY THANKSGIVING YOU ALL!!!
