Further to my last post, I just remembered that Bill and Nancy Constable are still in Creston and I don't know if Mary Mawson taught any of us (I believe she was Miss Tebolt?) or if Phil Thomas was around then.  They are still in Creston.

Bryan, Bryan, Bryan:  Re:  Your tracing down Ernie Nacarrato.

Read your note....finished the latest Forum ad-ons....started dinner.....refreshing hot bath (not for dinner - for me!);  soaking away, as I often do, and realized I was still mulling over the steps of your successful search.

It came to me that you'd have made a pretty decent reporter back in the last days of the great Southam dailies because - your approach is exactly what a good reporter would have done in locating people needed to verify or round out a 'story'.

Good for you - on all counts.  :-)

Have been reading the comments about Ernie Nacarrato with great interest.  Like most

of  us,  I have very fond memories of him.  He always let us stray off topic and then bring

us back into line with his ..... Now people.......

When my sister graduated in 1968, because we had no Father figure in our life, he

realized her quandry and offered his arm and as a result he escorted her into the

auditorium on graduation night.

I think that would be quite special if Ernie Naccarato could join us in September. I have fond memories of him. He was a teacher with real class. Thanks for doing the sleuthing you did in finding him, Bryan.

I was talking to Kath Hood in the Overwaitea yesterday.  Did she teach any of our classes?  I didn't go to Kindergarten so don't know if she was there then or not.

H. F. (Herb) Legg (1964)

There was no kindergarden for the Class of 64.......started one, perhaps two, years later.  I know the Class of 66 started with kindergarden.

Mrs. Hood was an occasional  stand-in teacher for us in elementary school and, I think, part or full-time librarian at that level.

We are getting closer all the time and l am totally pleased with whats happened to this point. Many thanks to those who are working so hard to put this together. I,ve looked at the numbers and it appears as though the VIPs of "66" are in the lead. Now if you remember correctly the class of "65" kidnapped our mascot the "Gazorp" and held it for a considerable time. Now if the class of "66" can maintain an edge in attendance we may find resolution to this travesty, wink ,wink, nudge ,nudge. l would also like to start the rumour that the year with the greatest attendance goes for dinner first and gets seconds. I have thrown down the gauntlet in my small way and l,m being selfish about it meaning that there are so many people l would like to see and in my mind this is the place to do it. I don,t believe we will have an opportunity like this again so step up and lets make this one special, so special that none of us are likely to forget.

In Other News:  Under Classmate Profiles, there is a request for any information about Lorne Truscott.

(1)  Lorne graduated in 1963.....so....I don't see how he qualifies to be listed on the reunion site:  he doesn't.

(2)  Lorne is selling real estate in California (Sacremento, I believe).

(3)  Lorne's E-mail:  lorne45@comcast.net

Have dropped a note on this to the 'Contact Us'' folks.

Herb

I don't know how I came to be listed in the graduates section - thanks for pointing that out.  The last thing I want to do is 'crash the party'.

I'm dabbling in real estate in Stockton, California, about 45 miles south of Sacramento.  The epicenter of the housing collapse in 2007-2008.  Stockton is between an hour and 2 hours east of cities in the San Francisco Bay area, and has a 60-70,000 residents who commute to the Bay every day.  When the housing market collapsed, we were the foreclosure capital of the U.S.  Prices are only now returning to normal.

Looking forward to getting a few of your emails.

Lorne

Herb,

Of course - I didn't make the connection at first.  I don't think I know anyone else that has a newspaper background.  I spent my life as an accountant, but I edit the neigborhood newsletter to satisfy my creative side.

Forward some of those emails you promised!

We are getting much closer to the day and having taken on the task of master of ceremonies l will need your help. I have an hour to fill some with an open mike. Realizing that not everyone is comfortable speaking in public. I am asking that those with stories write them down and pass them to me at the Friday meet and greet. For those not attending but would like to participate l will provide a G mail address at the conclusion of this post. I am going to create a section of anecdotes called guess who.You will submit a story and we,ll see if those in attendance can guess the identity of the writer. I would also like you to give some thought to the things you did or the clothes you wore that you would that would never do now because you know l,m going to ask. If l can get enough stories to fill the time frame then l won,t have to make things up. Keep in mind that these stories are from that time period but not neccesarily all school stories. I thank you in advance for your contribution to the success of this event.

New TopicGraduation Parties.  Through the mists of time (and ot other causes - liquid and vapour) I can remeber two dandies.  first, at Sirdar, on the beach.  hard to get to and almost impossible to get back.  this was mostly sandy's doing, as i recall.  Secondly, the 'big' grad party out on the flats - Chrrstienson's? big fire near the dyke.  I rember deciding it was unwise to drive so we car pooled from Watson's garage (Shell station)  I think it was my mom's green ford but all I can remember is that Nich travelled with me and we when got back (my brother must have been driving) he fell out flat on his face.  he got up, shool it off, looked in the mirror and stated '...that will probably hurt in the morning' and thenheaded home.  I am not sure if we even saw him in the morning.  I also think that one was on a week-day because I remember going to school with a hang-over to end all hangovers.

I do rember other things from those parties but I do not think this is the right media to air those tales.  anyone else?

Brian

Sharon Brierley (Rodgers) (1964)

Hello to All,

Thanks for all the work done by the committee! I have enjoyed hearing about classmates & reading their responses.

I had hoped to attend the reunion..... but.... Don & I are in the process of moving to Kamloops. We have sold our Tsawwassen condo & bought a home at Sunrivers in Kamloops.  After 2 bouts of downsizing, we're now going back to a house. We will be moving just before the reunion & I plan to settle in & relax.

Our new address is:  713 Rosewood Cres. / V2H 1S3. Stop in for a visit if you're in the neighbourhood.

Have a great time at the reunion. 64 was a great year!

Cheers.   Sharon (Brierley) Rodgers

Sandra Shunter (Koochin) (1964)

Oh Sharon,

You were just a two and a half hour ferry(ies) ride from Saturna so I thought I might see you.

We go to Tsawwassen ferry terminal whenever we go to the mainland.

Now you are moving 6 hours away! Oh well. It jolted me into e-mailing you.

Kamloops is nice. Our nephew has been a family practice doctor there for 25 years - only one with the last name Koochin

(if you are looking for a doctor). You will be very busy right now but, I hope you have time to send a message!

XOXO,

Sandra

Bryan Walhovd (1964)

Was in Creston for a night returning from a wedding celebration at Bull River Guest Ranch a week ago. I did spend a beautiful hour with the famous "Ernie" . He is at Crestview, has a white "pooch" named Lily, has sight impairment so computer and reading are out(stroke a few years back). He still astute but claims he has memory loss. From our conversation I disagree as we talked about the great years all of us had with him and he remembered. He said that if he made an appearance he would feel bad not remembering many of us. I said that was of no concern as we would remind him!! I feel that we could tailor an appropriate venue. I will come up early to try to arrange such. He is mobile so we walked and talked, and we sat outside the lodge and talked as well. A small short venue? An appearance at our get together?? lunch? Any other ideas out there???

I have focused on Ernie but do not wish to exclude other teachers and they should be included.

My hat is off to all the organizers, thanks ever so much!!

Ron T, any help I can be, shoot me a note!

Hi Bryan --

Your enthusiasm to have Mr. Nacarrato attend is super !.  Our committee meets today and we can discuss your ideas.  The final push for Classmate registration is going well and then the committee members will be preparing for the BIG EVENT !

Personally, Judy and I are away from Aug. 29 to Sept. 7 visiting and relaxing on the Oregon coast.

Thanks to you and many others for your input on this website !

Ncely done, Bryan.  Sounds promising.  :-)

In response to Herb's 240 comment, I had lunch at Wanita mall with Mrs. Hood a couple weeks ago.

her Daughter had taken her there and was off shopping.

She was having some sort of Minor Cancer treatment (her words) Not life threatening. She tried to contact someone about attending and will definitly be there.

Wonderful visit, once i introduced myself, she told stories of my sister ruth and the deyoung's where she visited down the lake.

Annette Van De Riet (Hambler-Pruden) (1965)

I was talking with Bev Wyers yesterday and I asked her about Ernie.  She says he would really like to attend the reunion but cannot make any committment as his health varies from day to day.  She did say she would see how he is doing either Friday or Saturday and if he is well enough, she will bring him for a short time.  She asked about fees and I told her not to be concerned.  If he does come and it is felt he should pay something, I would be glad to cover the charge.    Annette Van De Riet Hambler-Pruden
