A note from one lucky enough to get this far. Yes, my heart goes out to those of our classmates that are not with us now and their families. Like Herb and Philip, class remembrances, the good times, the friendships and the school "goings on" seem to be very fresh in our minds even though alot of water has passed under the bridge. Staying young in our mind is uplifting. Probably does not make sense to those reading but............
Shirley was always a happy, engaging contemporary throughout school and we had a lot fun before everyone went their separate ways after grade 13-------we must have been the last of the 13s! We had an extra year to bond! The Bells had the last farm up Alice Mine road just past Millers and Gidlucks. I used to ride my old SCP(Special Crap Pile as I was kidded. The other kids had CCM Bikes) up the mine road quite often. Bruce Avery was a next door neighbour as was Paula Fetzko. Bruce's dad ran the drug store below my dad's office, Avery Car Pharmacy. Herb, you must remember the soda fountain, the "suicide" which was a squirt of each flavour which you introduced me to. Bruce Avery gave me my first ride on a Vespa motorcycle. He took the neighbour's wife, Sharon Melenka off the road and over the bank next to Paula's house. All survived. I could write a book on all the great and goofy things we did. Life seemed to go very slow: got to get driver's licence, go to Porthill, get out of school, stop doing endless homework, exams(arghh!!) and now...............life goes unmercifully fast, exponentially!!
Also fondly remembered and missed are John White(tallest kid in the class), Jack Chernoff, Gail Grant(my first date; grade 7, school dance), Carol Fowley, Gordie Petevello(the Wynndel kid), Bob Barnes(close bud).
To those still breathing, hang in there because this reunion should be a real blast. Looking forward to seeing the Creston gang, all of you.
