Wow .l,ve never seen such activity on this site and as a former mayor and being from Alberta l will remain neutral in this present dust up . l think it,s called chicken . l have picked up on Pat Whitfords suggestion of another reunion and l,m in! l would like to suggest a sixties homecoming as opposed to another grad reunion. l believe the groundwork done for our recent grad by a very capable comittee will serve as a great base for future events. I am sure that a great number of ideas were discussed immediatly after the last succesful event and have already been shelved . lets get them on line before they are forgotten and keep in mind that that there are no bad ideas if in fact they prompt disscussion of good ones.

Enough!!! Changing the subject. Can anybody identify persons in the pics??  I know it's lots of work, but would really appreciate it.  Enjoyed the reunion and ready for another.

Pat Whitford (Paterson) (1965)

Jessie, are you referring to the class pictures?  If so, yes, names will be put to the faces?  Also, many, many pictures taken the night of the event by our photographer will be appearing on the website.  Will be getting this done asap.

11/04/14 08:36 AM #341

Ron Toyota (1965)

Thanks Terry --

Judy and I plan to attend the Friday (Nov. 7th) dinner but unfortunately we have to leave for Curling at 6:45

We will also be attending the Remembrance Day Celebration on November 11th and hopefully the December dinner as well !

Your dinners are developing into a great "get together" for all of us local Creston 60's classmates !

Ron

I would like to clarify the purpose and edict rules of a “web forum”. At the top of the posting page it will describe the topics that can or cannot be posted. In this case, as David posted, all postings have abided by these rules.

Since the 2014 reunion is behind us the topics will change as well and we all look forward to those. You may not agree with everything that appears, make your view known then drop it. So until the rules change I look forward to all topics pertaining to classmates and our town of Creston.

I too am proud to have a class mate running for Mayor and one that is keeping our Legion operating. I would also like to see postings from other class mates with regards to any activity that they are participating in whether it is for a charity, city counsellor, or president of the Creston Tiddly Winks Club. For the class mates who live outside Creston it is the only way we have of keeping up with events in Creston and other class mates. My apologies for belabouring this topic but I feel strongly that neither Ron nor Terry needs to apologise for their postings. I wish Ron success in his bid for Mayor and Terry keep up the good work at the Legion. My father his father and my Uncles who all served in the two wars would thank you for keeping this institution on going.

Re:  No. 340 Jessie Lewis Clinton - 'ENOUGH!!':

Thanks, Jessie.

That was fun, wasn't it?  An 'apples & oranges' herd mentality at its finest. "The (group) doth protest too much, me thinks." - Hamlet 1602, Wm. Shakespeare.

You've answered the question of when will sanity step up to the plate?

Best Rgrds,

Allan Zackodnik (1966)

As a former Crestonite currently living a "long ways from home" in the frozen north, I very much agree with Bernie Tipper's comment when he stated "For the classmates who live outside Creston it is the only way we have of keeping up with events in Creston and other class mates". A great benefit to me, of the hard work that the organizing committee did, was to put me back in touch with old friends with whom I had lost contact. I appreciate this very much and thank the committee.

I also enjoy reading about any item of "current affairs" related to the community.

In that regard, (in my opinion) for those who have not yet discovered it, and for anyone dragging a trailer or fifth wheel behind your diesel, you will find no better a sani station/dog run/water refill/rest stop and associated walkway anywhere in the Province than the one that now exists in Creston on the old Crestbrook Mill site (Burns & Farsted). I have either worked, lived or travelled most of BC and can honestly say Creston has one of the best facilities for campers needing a time out. It's free, easy to get to and large enough for any rig to swing around in.

You still can not beat Creston water. And that's from someone who has spent 37 years in the business.

Community, political, personal. I love reading it all.

All the best to you Ron in your re-election. I would never have known there was an election in Creston if not for this wonderful website!

Bonnie Libby (Sainsbury) (1964)

I didn't attend the reunion, but thanks to a classmate who connected with me (thanks Jessie) on Facebook, I've subscribed to the forum.

I would be interested in knowing what's happening with 64 classmates. I've been participating in online forums since the 70s and in a few months the level of noise naturally finds a level that most participants are comfortable with .

There are those that will say if I'd attended the reunion, I'd have that information - fair enough. A healthy community forum means we don't have to wait another 25 years to keep up with folks we went to school with.

Annette Van De Riet (Hambler-Pruden) (1965)

In response to Bernie's wanting to know what else classmates have been up to--I will be retiring from the School Board this year after serving for 29 years.  I first joined the Board in 1977 and have been off and on since.  I found it was necessary to take a break every now and then to maintain my sanity.  I have brought greetings from the Board for every one of my childrens' graduations as well as 6 grandchildren.  My great granddaughter is now attending kindergarten at A.R.E.S. which is our old Creston Elementary School.  She is the 5th generation of my family to attend that school.  I was part of the Board that rebuilt PCSS after the fire and built the new Erickson Elementary.  I think it is now time for someone else to take over and carry on.  I enjoyed the reunion and really hope there are enough of us around to have a 60th.  I liked the suggestion that someone made about making it a 60's reunion.

Linda Mahoney (Streifel) (1965)

Five generations! Wow how wonderful. Enjoy your retirement , Annette, but I am sure you won't be sitting around with nothing to do. I've never been this busy even when I worked full time.

good idea Roy, a 60s Homecoming would be great.  Those of us on the Reunion Committee arew pretty gung ho to do another

Rosanne Plank (Watt) (1966)

I'm putting my 2 cents in against a 60's HomeComing.  I think the next re-union should be like the

last one so that the classmates that didn't get a chance to attend for whatever reason, can

experience what we did in September.  I feel that the time span is too great as someone

graduating in 1960 wouldn't even know someone who graduated in 1969 and as a result there

would be very little mingling and people would be more likely to stay in their respective years.

When my sister Judy had her 50th re-union in 2010, she brought my sister Wendy with her.

Wendy graduated in 1968, Judy graduated in 1961 and Wendy's response was ...... I didn't

know any of those people.  She was still in elementary school when the grads of '61 finished

school.

Lots of luck Ron on your quest to become Mayor again.  I would vote for you if I lived there.
