Jennifer Clunies-Ross Jackson

I have lived in the Yukon for 30 years out of the past 46. Here I've learned from my mother-in-law (now deceased) to fry bannock and cook and eat all sorts of foods " off the land". Also, she taught me to sew moccasins, vests, dolls, fur hats, mitts and more using tanned moose hide, beaver and rabbit.
Writing is my passion, but life got in the way as we moved and built a log home these past few years. Finally we are settling in to semi bush life. Ahh, peaceful and quiet!

Our little Crystal is now 39 yrs old, but is 'forever young' due to the FASD. She looks about 11or so. Mentally, well, she went to school for 8 yrs at the pre-kindergarten level. But she is the sweetest! She sings 95% of her waking hours in peaceful, joyful melodies with words about the days events or that direct me 'not to worry next day'.
Crystal inspired me to write and self-publish "Silent No More!" A Poetic Voice Breaks the Silence of FASD.

Most embarrassing moment was in Art class grade 8, I think.
Mr Waldie (right name?) held up my finished work in front of the class. It was a no smoking sign that I had carefully worked on, but had spelled it
'NO SMOCKING'!
Now 'back in the '50s' my Mom had delivered full term twins and had worn a 'smock' for months over her very large tummy. Being that age when if I swallowed, I thought everyone could hear me....I was mortified!

Oh Dear, it all comes back just writing about it! lol
